Going beyond “perfect on paper” and really understanding your ICA is the shift you’ve been searching for.
Marketing has moved on… you’ll have seen people talking about it. And they’re right.
Gone are the days when it’s good enough to know WHO your ideal client is and map out an avatar profile for her. That’s great but superficial.
The people we are manifesting today as clients are the ones who are ready to work with us. If you want to pull her into your sphere, you need to know not just WHO she is, but WHAT motivates her and HOW you’re going to rock her world.
When you marry who you are with who they are… the magic happens.

Going deep
If you’ve worked through a traditional Ideal Client Avatar (ICA) exercise before, you know the drill:
Sarah is 42 and likes morning walks with her dog
She drinks oat milk, hates the algorithm, and listens to Mel Robbins podcasts
She runs a small business and feels “stuck”
Let’s be honest, this could describe a lot of us (me included).
It’s not useless. But it’s not anywhere near targeted or deep enough.
Not for the kind of transformational, heart-led work you’re here to do.

I call her a Resonating IC, but you will have heard others call her Expansive. Whatever her title, we’re talking about the person who is ready to get to work with you.
This isn’t about age, income or shoe size (unless you’re selling shoes, of course).
This is about desire, motivation and readiness.
A Resonating IC is someone who sees themselves in your words. They see your solution as their solution because you’ve seen them.
She doesn’t need a long sales pitch - you know the one, pushing on pain points and convincing her to work with you.
She needs to feel seen and understood. She needs to know that you “get” her, and you’re going to help her transform effortlessly.
We all:
resist change (it’s scary!)
know we need to flex
are looking for a solution that seems easy and makes sense.
[I love a bit of cognitive dissonance.]
Joking aside, when your story and values (summed up in your magical voice) strike a chord, she will react. When you make her feel something real, she will respond. When you show her how life will be different, she will book you.
The Nutshell:
Traditional ICA ➡️ Resonating Ideal Client
Focuses on demographics ➡️ Focuses on motivation + emotion
Treats copy as persuasion ➡️ Treats copy as alignment
Describes general needs ➡️ Speaks to urgent desires
Based on external traits ➡️ Rooted in inner readiness
Requires effort to convert ➡️ She’s already listening
You don’t need to convince a Resonating IC. You just need to call her forward.
Give her permission. Give her clarity. Give her ease.
How to talk to her
I mean that - you are just talking to her like you’d talk to an old friend. The minute you start to “write” you can be sure you’re putting barriers up. Let’s break them down by just chatting and resonating:
Speak to her, not just her pain points:
She’s already tried DIY
She’s downloaded all the free stuff
She’s waited for the “right time”.
Now she’s ready to invest in a real shift. Honour that.
Get emotional, not AI blah, blah, blah
She wants to feel your words
She doesn’t need to spend time decoding your words
She needs to be able to react to something.
Use words you’d say out loud. Keep it warm, real, human.
Name her desires, even if they feel big
She might want freedom or impact
She definitely wants ease and confidence
She may even be after World Peace (there will definitely be a big picture motivator somewhere in there).
If you can name it, she’ll feel seen.
Dial up your voice, she needs to know who you are.
Your unique magic is part of the resonance
Whether you’re playful, bold, lyrical, or grounded, own it
You’re not talking to everyone, just HER.
It’s what helps her recognise you as her guide.
Invite her into the story... It’s hers after all!
Help her imagine what will happen when she opens the door
Position her as the hero, central to the story
You are her experienced guide who understands her deeply.
Empower her!
We’re all sick to death of being bruised and hit over the head with the marketing stick. Show her a carrot and remind her how delicious they are, how versatile and easy to eat.
Bring the magic to your music
When your message is aligned with who you are and talks to who she is, that’s harmony happening.
That’s the power of voice-led, values-forward messaging that resonates… and it can’t be faked or fabricated.
